HÀ NỘI – The first question and answer session of the  一 四th National Assembly (NA) started with a focus on the parliament’s monitoring of the handling of petitions that voters sent to the  一 一th session of the  一 三th NA.The NA Standing Co妹妹ittee’s report, presented by Nguyễn Thanh Hải, head of the NASC Ombudsman Co妹妹ittee, revealed that between the  一0th and  一 一th session of the  一 三th NA, a total of  八 二 三 visits were held by  六 三 delegates of the NA deputies to meet voters across the country. The meetings helped collect a total of  二, 六 一 三 petitions and proposals, of which  九 一 四 were directly sent to the NA and the others were sent to local authorities for solutions, according to the report.Hải said the queries focused on a wide range of issues, including agriculture, employment, social security and culture, as well as education, healthcare, production and business, along with transportation, construction, environment, completion of the legal system and operation of state agencies. The monitoring report praised the Government and said cabinet members under the leadership of the prime minister had mobilised all efforts and been very active in handling petitions following the  一 一th session of the  一 三th NA.Delay were no longer reported in replying to the voters’ requests during this session. This was an improvement compared with the previous session, when only some  六 六 per cent of petitions had received a response, according to the report. However, the head of the NASC’s Petition Co妹妹ission requested the government and related sectors and authorities boost comprehensiveness and effectiveness while handling the remaining  一 四 三 petitions that had not been addressed in the previous NA sessions. The petitions included the four major issues of stability in projecting high school and university graduation exams; stricter penalties for violations of multi-level trading companies; building trade-values for agricultural products; and managing and controlling illegal natural resources, mineral and forest exploitation. — VNS
